The Wharton Council aims to promote positive traditions at the Wharton School. Over the course of the year, we have many fun-filled Traditions for the Wharton student.
CURRENT TRADITIONS
Clubbing Night
During the second week of classes during the Fall semester, all Wharton recognized clubs and organizations join together in the Baker Forum for Clubbing Night. This is an opportunity for all students to explore the many co-curricular activities that Wharton has to offer.
Wharton Undergraduate Leadership Forum (WULF)
The Wharton Undergraduate Leadership Forum (WULF) is a training session for the presidents and leaders of Wharton clubs that are registered and recognized by the Wharton Council. Each January, the Wharton Council Clubs and Conferences Committee holds the WULF meeting to introduce club leaders to each other, develop new ideas for club leadership, and update each club on administrative and strategic changes in Wharton Council management. Furthermore, other WULF events are occasionally held over the course of the academic year to bolster the relationships between the clubs and the Wharton Council. \
FALL TRADITIONS
Winter Whartonland
Winter Whartonland will be a weeklong celebration to mark the end of fall semester. Taking place the last week of regular classes, it will feature a series of connected events culminating in a Winter Whartonland Festival in the Baker Forum of Jon M. Huntsman Hall. The event will foster unity and school pride within the Wharton undergraduate community, as well as give students a chance to relax and reflect upon their collective achievements.
This event is also an opportunity to foster collaboration among the various student leadership organizations within Wharton. Winter Whartonland will combine the efforts of the Wharton Council, the Wharton Undergraduate Dean’s Advisory Board, and the Freshmen Cohorts.
SPRING TRADITIONS
Hostile Takeover
Hostile Takeover is an intense and unique game of strategy that occurs every spring and involves over 350 undergraduate students and faculty. Players sign up and receive a small green ball and a “target.” The goal of the game is hit your target with the ball, before the person who is targeting you hits you (“takes you over”). The game has several rounds and culminates in a finale with the remaining 10 players on Lehman Quad.
Freshman Farewell
At the end of the Spring semester, we invite all Wharton Freshmen and their Mgmt 100 TAs to an end of the year celebration on Koo Plaza in Huntsman Hall. There are carnival activities like Dunk-Your-TA, waterguns, and plenty of great food! Your Wharton Experience is not just inside the classroom, this event aims to foster a community between your classmates and peers.
Senior Pub
Senior Pubs are a series of pubs only open to Wharton undergraduate seniors. Each spring, we host 3- 4 of these pubs in the MBA Pub. Wharton Council provides pizza, beer, and games in an effort to foster community within the senior class.
